Shaft hoist

The shaft hoist is designed for vertical transportation of various loads within a shaft. It can be installed in an existing shaft or manufactured according to the dimensions of a planned shaft.

The shaft hoist is an analogue of a freight elevator, featuring a non-standard cabin, elevator guide rails, and various options for the arrangement of the lifting mechanism.

Unlike a freight elevator, the control panel of a shaft hoist is not located inside the cabin but outside the hoist, as the shaft hoist is intended exclusively for transporting goods. This allows loads to be moved between floors without the presence of an operator.

The hoist guide rails are modular and are fixed to the walls of the load-bearing shaft. The cargo cabin is a fully enclosed structure equipped with doors. The shaft hoist may feature either an upper or a lower arrangement of the lifting mechanism. With the upper arrangement, the lifting mechanism is mounted at the top of the shaft and secured to the shaft walls, provided their load-bearing capacity allows it, or to the upper slab of the shaft. If required, a steel supporting structure can be manufactured and installed to distribute the load across all shaft walls. With the lower arrangement, the lifting mechanism is installed in the pit or outside the shaft dimensions.

The overall dimensions of the cargo platforms, the arrangement of the lifting mechanisms (upper or lower), and the number of intermediate stops are agreed upon at the order placement stage.

The shaft hoist is equipped with safety devices consisting of two safety ropes, compression springs, and wedge blocks. In the event of slackening or breakage of the main rope, the springs act on the blocks, which in turn clamp the safety ropes. As a result, the cabin does not fall but remains suspended on the two safety ropes.

Each shaft hoist is also equipped with an emergency limit switch system that cuts off the power supply in emergency situations:

  • in case of rope slackening or breakage
  • when passing the upper stop while the cabin is moving up
  • when passing the lower stop while the cabin is moving down

At the Customer’s request, the shaft hoist can be equipped with additional components:

  • shaft doors of various designs, including overhead sectional gates equipped with electrical interlocks (the cabin cannot move when the doors are open) and mechanical interlocks (the door cannot be opened when the cabin is not at the floor)
  • folding sides on the cargo cabin
  • floor-by-floor elevator control system (a short press of the button is sufficient to send the cargo cabin to the desired floor)
  • cabin position indicator lights
  • intercom system
  • load limiter
